In Loving Memory of Sensei Chris Bateman

The Bateman family tragically lost a beloved wife, mother, and grandmother with the passing of Sensei Chris Bateman in 2020. As a founding member of Kazoku Karate and Kodokan Martial Arts, Sensei Chris played a pivotal role in shaping the school and guiding its students.

A 3rd Dan black belt, Sensei Chris was known for her strict yet fair approach, helping students hone their skills and reach their full potential. She excelled as both a Kumite and Kata coach, often found on the mat during competitions, offering encouragement and support to competitors.

Behind the scenes, Sensei Chris was instrumental in running the group and the schools, contributing greatly to the success of the MKKI-UK’s annual Gasshukus.

Though she is no longer with us, her legacy lives on in the students she mentored and the impact she made on the dojo. Sensei Chris will always be remembered and admired. We carry forward her teachings, training with heart and striving to reach our highest potential, knowing she is watching over us.
